Camp Solaris is the newest addition to the Camp Sonshine organization. Located near Firth, NE, Camp Solaris provides overnight camping experience for older tweens and teens.
Eleanor managed the naming process for Camp Solaris. The name Solaris is a combination of “Solar” and “Polaris.” Solar references the sun and the warm, life-giving light it provides. Polaris is a constant, steady presence in the sky and because of that, explorers have used it as the base for navigation at sea and on land. Polaris is commonly referred to as the “North Star.”
As a part of the Camp Sonshine brand, we knew Camp Solaris needed to look like a part of the family. We worked diligently to carry through a similar design aesthetic but one that was more tailored to older kids. We echoed the typeface found in the Camp Sonshine logo and paired it with an image illustrating the overnight nature of the camp.
