Summer Internship Recap: Our Interns’ Points of View

This summer, our interns jumped into real projects and tackled challenges they never imagined.

From video shoots to writing social media content and entering website updates, they discovered what it means to work in a collaborative, creative environment. While we could go on about their accomplishments, we thought it would be best to share their experiences in their own words.

Diving In On Day One

The internship kicked off with meaningful work from the very beginning. Sarah reflected on her first days in the Omaha office, saying, “I felt so welcomed by this team and was trusted to work on important projects.” Ava shared a similar experience, noting, “Entering my first internship, I felt underprepared and unqualified; the Eleanor team made me feel capable and supported from day one.” For Kelsey, one of our Lincoln interns, starting fresh out of college brought its own challenges. She explained, “I came into this summer literally two days after graduation. Like many new grads, I was wrestling with every self-doubting thought imaginable… They made me feel not only in the right place, but on the right path.”

Learning on the Job

Each intern had opportunities to stretch their skills and grow in unexpected ways. Carlos dove into videography and storytelling, discovering how media contributes to a brand’s goals: “This summer was packed with projects that taught me so much about interviewing, working with fast turnaround times, and honing my videography skills… These experiences reinforced my adaptability, flexibility, and ability to work under pressure.” Kyto shared her perspective on the branding process, saying, “I found it interesting how thorough every step of the design process was. And anytime I had a question, there was always someone ready to help, which made it easy to keep progressing each day.”

Hands-On Experience

Our interns were trusted with meaningful work across a variety of clients. Ava described her role, saying, “It didn’t matter that I was an intern. I was a part of the team. I wrote website copy, drafted newsletters, and created social posts. I learned to approach projects with confidence.” Sarah shared her excitement for storytelling: “I worked on a variety of assignments, including TikToks and Reels, print and digital design, and client social media content. I’ve been especially grateful for the chance to share the stories of the Old Market and highlight the people and places that make Omaha so unique.” Carlos emphasized how hands-on projects challenged him and helped him grow: “With my business background, watching all the micro-processes come together into the cogs and gears that make Eleanor turn was phenomenal.”

Reflections and What’s Next

By the end of the summer, the interns had not only developed skills but also gained confidence. Kelsey reflected, “I did choose the right career path, and I did not waste the last four years of my life. Marketing and advertising felt like the perfect fit, and this summer gave me confidence I was on the right track.” Ava captured the team experience, saying, “Above all, I learned that working on a team who values open communication, collaboration, and laughter is incredibly valuable. Regardless of where my career takes me, I’ll carry what I’ve learned into whatever comes next.” Kyto summarized the impact of the summer: “It has set the bar pretty high for future work environments.” And for Carlos, seeing all the pieces come together was the most meaningful part: “I learned that every process, every piece of media, and every word is intentional, all working toward the goal of ‘making our mark by making yours.’”

Thanks to Sarah, Carlos, Ava, Kyto, and Kelsey for bringing creativity, curiosity, and humor to our Lincoln and Omaha studios this summer.
