Meet Sheena Rancourt

Welcome Sheena! A Brand Strategist, made a soul-searching decision to change careers after spending 10 years as a teacher. Sheena started doing some work on a part-time basis while working from afar, literally, while she was finishing out the school year as a teacher in Chewelah, Washington, a farming and logging town where she had grown up. Her friendship with Christine Weeks, CEO of Eleanor, brought her back to Lincoln, NE, and we’re super excited that she is part of the team on a full-time basis now.

Her valuable teaching skills have come in handy with our team and with her clients. For starters, Sheena’s sense of patience definitely comes from years of working for hours on end, all while answering hundreds of questions, and making lists of things she would have to get done later. She spent plenty of time as a teacher prepping, evaluating, analyzing, adjusting, presenting, and designing to create a classroom experience for her students, much like what she does for Eleanor’s clients.

Sheena’s not afraid to step out of her comfort zone and try new things. That is a bonus for any client looking for a branding agency that will push them forward in their industry. She is also authentic, something she learned from her students who she fondly refers to as being “like sharks”. She says, “They know if you are lying and if you are unprepared, and they do not hesitate to point it out. They kept me honest and on my toes.” Working with colleagues, administration, school boards, parents, and students from all walks of life and experiences is exactly what she is doing in her new role, only it is mostly adults here. Her ability to connect with people and to work within a team makes her an invaluable resource at Eleanor. Sheena will always deliver a positive attitude and the skies-the-limit approach to whatever she works on.

If you ask Sheena what she loves about her new job, she says it’s absolutely the Eleanor Team. “I have been very lucky in my life to have bosses, mentors, and coworkers who are exceptional people. Eleanor is no exception,” Sheena says. “Each person brings such flavor and skills to our team, and I feel lucky to get to know people with such rich life experiences and so many talents to share.” She really enjoys getting to meet with clients and discuss new industries and strategies, to organize events, photoshoots, and commercials, and still finds time to sit quietly and work on individual projects.

Although Sheena spent most of her life living in the state of Washington, she is extremely happy to be back in Lincoln, NE, where she says she feels very much at home. She loves spending time with her two children and exploring all of the great activities Lincoln has to offer them. The people, trails, schools, and Husker games, especially volleyball, are some of her favorite things about living here. An adventure enthusiast, Sheena can be seen biking around the city or to the office with her cycling buddy, Christine. She’s also runs marathons, enjoys traveling and can’t wait for snow to fly so she can drive to Denver to ski and snowboard. She is passionate about food and different cuisines, will eat pineapple on anything, and says gummy bears are great day or night.

Sheena received her Bachelor’s Degree in English, with a minor in History and an emphasis in Technical Writing, from Western Washington University in Bellingham, WA. She received a Master’s in Teaching from Gonzaga University in Spokane, WA, and is a proud “Zag”. Sheena is also happy to be a Husker fan!
