Roper and Sons new funeral home brand identity, website, and marketing campaign pay homage to the past and looks toward the future.
When you are a 120-year-old funeral home and one of the oldest companies in the Midwest, it takes constant care and marketing innovation to keep your business moving forward. Our team needed to honor the history of Roper and Sons Funeral home, while creating them a time-honored, and modern brand to move them into their next fifty years. With over five locations in southeast Nebraska and business partners that extend past the Roper family name, it was imperative for us to do thorough qualitative and visual research before the identity design work began.
01
The Challenge
Our brand challenge was to gather 100 years of brand history for consideration when creating a new brand identity that would feel historical, professional, compassionate, and fresh. We knew this would have to include both diving into the archives, and uncovering logos and brand identities since 1901, while taking into account the actual, contemporary funeral experience of today. Lastly, we would need to bring together stakeholders with varying opinions on how the new brand should look, sound, and feel.
02
The Solution
Their new funeral home logo features an elegant, graceful monogram. It emerges from the intertwining of the Roper and Sons initials, creating a gestural ampersand, while reminding the viewer that Roper and Sons has always been defined by its togetherness.
03
The Outcome
Following the launch of Roper & Son’s funeral home website, we created a new funeral home marketing strategy to move them into the next 20 years. Our copywriters at Eleanor Creative in Lincoln, Nebraska focused on crafting a message that would resonate with Nebraskans and with the mission of Roper and Son’s funeral home. The campaign messaging, “Honor a Good Life,” was selected because of its ability to accomplish both of our objectives.
Everything in the Roper and Sons brand is designed with the concept that this is a multi-generational brand that will live in the broadest range of places. From mobile and desktop, whether it is Android or Apple, to traditional billboards and facebooks ads, we have our client’s and their audience covered.
